Good driving posture involves sitting at a slightly more reclined angle than usual while still maintaining a neutral spine.

  1. Slide the seat backwards so that there is still a slight bend in your knees when you fully depress the pedals.
  2. Adjust the base of the seat to bring your hips up to make them more level with your knees.
  3. Recline the seat to about 20 degrees from vertical.

Line drawing- good car seat setup

Good car seat setup requires an open hip angle (1) and an open knee angle (2)

Line drawing - bad car seat setup

Bad driving posture – the seat is too vertical, causing a closed hip angle (1). The base of the seat is angled back, causing a closed knee angle (2).
